Mark is Director of HGO Consultancy Ltd. Mark has worked in the housing-related support sector since 1981. Initially he worked for Oxfordshire Probation Service as a housing specialist, and then for Stonham Housing Association for 12 years. He became a freelance consultant in 1997, and formed HGO in 2003.
Mark was heavily involved in assisting providers to prepare for the implementation of Supporting People, and was best known for writing the influential guide on how to use Transitional Housing Benefit to maximise the establishment of Floating Support. He spent 2 years at the London Borough of Hounslow helping to establish the framework for SP, that ultimately led to the Authority achieving its status as an Excellent 3 Star SP Authority in the Audit Commission ratings. Since the beginning of SP in 2003, Mark has worked with around a third of the SP Authorities in the country as well as service providers. Mark is committed to making Supporting People work and believes very strongly that providers and Authorities alike have a shared interest in making this happen.
